The Harbour-front Enhancement Committee (“the Committee”) was established with Mr. LEE Chack-fan appointed as the Chairperson

The Committee agreed to commission a study relating to Wanchai Development Phase II

The Planning Department announced the launch of the Stage 1 Public Participation Programme for “Kai Tak Planning Review”

The Committee unveiled a plan on Harbour-front Enhancement Review for Wan Chai and Adjoining Areas

The Committee launched the “Central harbourfront and Me” public engagement programme to formulate a design framework with different stakeholders for improving Central Piers No. 1 to No. 8 and the adjacent Promenade areas

The Committee held the “Expert Panel Forum on Sustainable Transport Planning and Central-Wan Chai Bypass”

Opening of the first temporary harbourfront project - the West Kowloon Promenade

The Planning Department launched the Stage 2 Public Participation Programme for “Kai Tak Planning Review”

The Planning Department launched the Stage 1 Public Engagement for the Urban Design Study for the New Central Harbourfront

The Committee endorsed the “Harbour Planning Guidelines”

The Planning Department announced the launch of the Stage 2 Public Engagement Programme of Hung Hom District Study

The Planning Department launched the Stage 2 Public Engagement for the Urban Design Study for the New Central Harbourfront

The Committee’s Task Group on Management Model for the Harbourfront visited six overseas cities, including London, Liverpool, Sydney, Singapore, San Francisco, and Vancouver, to learn from overseas experiences in management model formulation

The Committee formulated the Proposals for 22 Action Areas to set the agenda for action and reference by relevant Government departments to enhance the harbourfront

The Government announced the extension of the term of the Committee by six months until 28 February 2010 to allow sufficient time for the completion of the Recommendation Report on a framework for the sustainable management of the harbourfront

Opening of the waterfront promenade of Sheung Wan Stormwater Pumping Station and its adjacent pet garden, pioneering the "single site, multiple use" initiative for drainage facilities

The Harbourfront Commission was established, with Mr. Nicholas BROOKE appointed as the Chairperson of Commission

The winning entry of the “Eye-On Victoria – Call for Victoria Harbour Icon Design” competition was selected as the Victoria Harbour icon and another entry from the Open Group was selected as the icon for the Commission

Opening of Hung Hom Promenade and Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade Extension

Mr. Nicholas BROOKE, Chairperson of the Committee, accompanied government officials to Auckland to exchange ideas and share experiences on harbourfront development. He also attended a seminar co-organised by the Development Bureau and the city of Barcelona

The Commission organised a symposium under the theme “Unleashing the Potential of the Waterfront”

The Commission and the Development Bureau had conducted Phase I and Phase II Public Engagement Exercise for the Establishment of a Harbourfront Authority

The “Kai Tak Fantasy” International Ideas Competition on Urban Planning and Design was launched

The Commission organised an inter-school debating competition to arouse interest and raise awareness of harbourfront-related issues among secondary school students

The Government granted the first short-term tenancy to a private operator to manage and operate the New Central Harbourfront area, namely the Central Harbourfront Event Space

The Commission and the Development Bureau co-organised “My Victoria Harbour Mini-move Competition”

Opening of the Kwun Tong Promenade (Stage II), extending the waterfront boardwalk to nearly 1 km in length

The Civil Engineering and Development Department conducted Stages 1 and 2 Community Engagement for the Boardwalk Underneath Island Eastern Corridor Study

The Chairperson of the Commission, Mr. Nicholas BROOKE, was interviewed by new.gov.hk to share views on the promenade enhancement work

Opening of "Central and Western District Promenade - Western Wholesale Food Market Section" which marked the completion and commissioning of the first brand new construction project under the Signature Project Scheme

The Government appointed Mr. Vincent NG as the Chairperson of the Harbourfront Commission, succeeding Mr. Nicholas BROOKE

Opening of first phrase of Belcher Bay Promenade – the first promenade opened under the “incremental approach”

Opening the promenade connecting Admiralty and Wan Chai Convention Centre (“The Connector”), adopting the “incremental approach”

The Commission led a delegation to Australia to study the harbourfront developments in Brisbane and Sydney

Full-commissioning of Belcher Bay Promenade – the first “Harbourfront Shared Space”

The announcement of winning entries of the "Victoria Harbour" Word Art Competition and the Harbourfront Public Furniture Competition

Opening of Phase 1 of the Water Sports and Recreation Precinct in Wan Chai

Opening of the Kai Tak Promenade (Hong Kong Children’s Hospital Section)
